Borrowing an opening line from Bashō, here's my haiku (written in Japanese then translated into English).
Tonbō ya
Kyō, kyōyū shimasu
Akitsushima
Here's a dragonfly
Today, we share his namesake
Dragonfly Island
September 2024 - walking in Bashō's footsteps accompanied by dragonflies along the way.
'Akitsushima' (Dragonfly Island) comes from an archaic name for Japan used in the ancient Kojiki chronicle (also known as Furukotofumi), a book of myths and legends.
